Mission


EREP provides opportunities for permanent basic literacy and numeracy to children and adults in Western Wollega, Ethiopia.


Objectives


  • To establish one-room schools in villages currently without schools
  • To apply the standard curriculum used in the Oromia Region to the multi-grade/multi-level activity-based learning modality developed by the Rishi Valley Institute for Educational Research (RIVER) in India
  • To teach kindergarten through the first four years (K-4) of the Oromia curriculum to children and interested adults
  • To provide a gender equitable educational opportunity to the children of the villages
  • To provide an inclusive educational opportunity to the children and adults of the villages regardless of religion or ethnicity
  • To encourage women of the villages to study the curriculum
  • To establish school gardens that will serve as environmental learning laboratories for the school children and the villages
  • To encourage land reclamation by school children and villagers on a continuing basis
  • To encourage and assist existing schools to adopt the EREP curriculum and methodology
